Meet the teacher: Josie Sovegjarto

Where did you train / study as a dancer / teacher?
I original studied for my degree in Contemporary Dance Studies from the University of Roehampton and then later gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Dance Education from Brighton University.
I have several qualifications in Yoga teaching but trained for my initial 200 hour yoga certificate from Yoga London and then later trained with the Teen Yoga Foundation.

Describe your most inspirational teacher
My students! Each and every teaching experience I learn from those in my classes. I find teaching to be a reflective and collaborative experience.

How would you describe your teaching style in three words?
Grounding, yet energetic and accessible.

How would you describe your class and what can people expect from a class with you?
In both my Dance and Yoga classes I aim for people to connect with body and breath, finding freedom by moving in a way that feels good to them. Allowing reflection and observation of how their bodies feel there and then, that day and then exploring fun, energising and adaptable sequencing and phrases.

What is your favourite Rambert work?
Goat.
