Meet the teacher: Mark Kelly
Where did you train / study as a dancer / teacher?
I trained at the Dance School of Scotland and the Royal Ballet School. I danced with Scottish Ballet and Rambert Dance Company.
First memory of dance
My first memories of dance was watching Scottish Ballet full length narrative works and how inspiring the dancers were. I was excited that one day that may be me and here I am 25 years later teaching and performing.
Describe your most inspirational teacher
My inspirational teacher has a very witty dry sense of humour along with a beautiful aesthetic for classical ballet. He was still very fit an able to demonstrate to us each exercise and inspired us to think of artistry and technique.
How would you describe your teaching style in three words?
Open Friendly Intuitive
How would you describe your class and what can people expect from a class with you?
A curious enquiry into ballet and movement connecting to our bodies ability to find pleasure in moving and connecting. My hope is that dancers go beyond the steps to find their own unique expression. A strong emphasis on embodying ballet with all of yourself.
