Eternal Light
Following the award-winning Constant Speed in 2005, Artistic Director, Mark Baldwin will premiere his second major work for Rambert Dance Company this autumn 2008.
Eternal Light is a new collaboration by Mark Baldwin and British composer Howard Goodall. This powerful piece is set to an elegiac and uplifting new score* and will be sung live by professional choirs, including Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Oxford when the work makes its London debut in November. Sumptuous designs from Production Designer Michael Howells (Constant Speed, Galliano, Dior and film), feature sparkling crystals donated by Swarovski, and a striking headdress design from fashion milliner Stephen Jones.
Eternal Light is a heartfelt remembrance of many things: a lost summer's day, the destruction of the forests, a life looking back, a memory. Happiness and sadness are personified in a dying bird or a reflection on youth - what has been and is now gone, held in our hearts forever.
