Work note: Created for a collaboration with Opera North on a Stravinsky double bill: 'Oedipus Rex', an opera-oratorio performed by Opera North, and 'Pulcinella', a dance work performed by Ballet Rambert with three singers from Opera North.
Production note: Howard Hodgkin is credited as 'design'.
Music title: Pulcinella: Ballet in one act for small orchestra with three solo voices after Giambattista Pergolesi (1924/1965)
Music details: Live music: soprano, tenor and bass soloists and orchestra.
Music note: At the time of composition, it was believed that Pergolesi had composed all the pieces Stravinsky used. It was subsequently discovered that several of them had been misattributed to Pergolesi and were actually by Domenico Gallo, Count Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer, Alessandro Parisotti, and Carlo Ingazio Monza.
