Music Fellow
New Music Fellow Mark Bowden
Mark is a composer living and working in London; he creates instrumental, chamber and orchestral music as well as music for voice, dance and film, and Rambert is thrilled to have him on board. You can read Mark's biography on his website here.
Mark has recently worked with Rambert dancer Malgorzata Dzierzon to create a new piece for the Season of new choreography at The Place in London, October 2011, and he talks about it in his Rambert blog entries: Blog 1, Blog 2.

We are making a significant investment in the development of choreographers, and we are now aiming to offer similar training to composers for dance. In 2010 the Foundation for Sport and the Arts generously funded a pilot scheme, the Rambert Music Fellowship, and composer Gavin Higgins was appointed to spend last year as the first Rambert Music Fellow. This culminated in two new pieces being performed at the Linbury Theatre in November 2010, and soon afterwards Gavin was announced as one of the 20 composers nationally to be commissioned, with Rambert, for New Music 20x12.
Thanks to grants from the PRS for Music Foundation, the Coln Trust, the Golsoncott Foundation and the Idlewild Trust, we are pleased to be able to extend this scheme, and are currently processing aplications for this year's Music Fellow. Visit us again soon to find out who is selected, or sign up to our monthly e-newsletter for all the latest news from Rambert. Sign up here.

Gavin was the very first Music Fellow to the Rambert Dance Company.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been offered this position. I have always had a fascination with the relationship between music and dance and this is a great opportunity to explore some of my ideas with an incredible company. The chance to work closely with choreographers, dancers and musicians from the company is a challenge I will relish.” 2010
