Residencies
Rambert offers dance residencies, typically two days or longer, in schools, venues and communities across the UK. A Rambert residency can be organised in two ways, either providing one group with a longer and intense experience or providing several groups with one-off workshops.
Case Studies
The following are some examples of recent residencies.
Centre for Advanced training (CAT) Residency at the Lowry
Following Rambert's performances at the Lowry in September, the L&P team were invited back in November to lead a weekend residency for the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Students at the Lowry. Having seen Rambert's performance, the CAT students were able to learn repertoire material and get a further insight into the Country's leading Contemporary Dance Company.
Split into two groups the students worked with animateurs Hannah Lockyer, Kate Mummery and Laura Harvey. Older students were put through their paces with Laura Harvey, learning repertoire from The Art of Touch, whilst the younger students learnt sections from A Linha Curva and Seven for a Secret choreographed by Rambert's Artistic Director Mark Baldwin.
All students worked extremely hard, taking part in daily contemporary technique class, followed by learning repertoire and creative tasking which they used to put small pieces together which they hope to use in the future for performances and sharings.
Dunoon Dance Festival 2010
Working with the McAslan Family Trust and the Burgh Hall in Dunoon, Rambert provided an exciting three day residency as part of the Dunoon's first dance festival. The workshops consisted of a contemporary based warm up class, the young people learning Rambert's repertoire and then the students creating their one choreography.
'Our work with Rambert Dance Company during the Dunoon Dance Festival was simply, in a word, outstanding. The animateur's were superb and our youngsters benefited greatly from being exposed to some of the finest dance expertise in the country.' Dava Sagenkahn, Mc Aslan family trust.
