Moved
Launched in November 2005, Moved is a three-year dance development project in five Lambeth secondary schools; Bishop Thomas Grant, Charles Edward Brooke, Lilian Baylis, Norwood and Stockwell Park schools. Supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation the project has engaged 150 pupils and 25 members of staff each year.
The young dancers participate in an intensive workshop programme that includes a trip to Sadler's Wells to see the Company, practical workshops learning repertoire, and an end of year performance open to family and friends.
"I really enjoyed dancing in the lights; it was a chance to dance on a stage. I came to the project thinking I couldn't do it, but I could."
Alicia Campbell, Stockwell Park School
The third and final year of Moved culminated in spring 2008 with two sold out performances at the Lillian Baylis studio theatre at Sadler's wells.
Both the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Company are proud of the positive impact it has had on teachers and young people in the borough.
