Tyntesfield Project
This summer Rambert Dance Company will be hosting a series of exciting workshops with young people from the South West of England at Tyntesfield, in North Somerset. The project is being run in partnership with the National Trust and the ‘North Somerset Find Your Talent' scheme.
The aim of the workshops is to create a unique performance in Tyntesfield's stunning grounds and house, a spectacular Victorian estate just outside Bristol, which was acquired by National Trust in 2002 and now welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year.
The workshops will be based on A Linha Curva by Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili, a popular piece which Rambert Dance Company will be performing as part of its autumn tour 2010. This sensational work makes for a fun and energetic workshop, and usually requires more dancers when performed on tour. Who knows, perhaps some of the young people will be drafted in!
The residency will work towards a private performance for friends and family on Friday 27 August. There will be a further small performance on Saturday 11 September for visitors to Tyntesfield. Friends and family members can also take part in one-hour introductory dance workshops led by Rambert.
Rambert has a long history of working with schools, colleges and arts organizations in a variety of contexts; in November 2010 the project Same/Different will see Rambert's dance and music animateurs create a large-scale performance that will take place in Ripon Cathedral, North Yorkshire.
