We offer a year-round workshop programme with schools throughout the country, giving students insight into Rambert’s work, the chance to explore their own creativity, and opportunities to develop their critical thinking skills.

We have developed our workshop offer for the 2018/19 academic year to provide more options for tailoring the focus according to your pupils’ needs.

Our schools workshops are now categorised into 3 strands:

  • Repertoire
  • Choreography
  • Archive

Each strand is available as a half day (up to 3 hours) or full day (up to 6 hours).

Schools can mix ‘n’ match workshops into a full day i.e. half day choreographic/half day repertoire. This can be for one group of students all day or two groups of students (eg. A level in the morning and GCSE in the afternoon).

We are also able to develop bespoke workshop packages to meet the needs of your students and development of dance in your School. To discuss please contact learning[ATSIGN]rambert.org.uk.

Workshop strands

Based around a dance work from Rambert’s diverse and iconic repertoire, workshops include a contemporary dance technique warm up, the chance to learn the choreography and a short creative element where students are encouraged to create their own movement.

Available repertoire: A Linha Curva, Rooster, Ghost Dances, Swansong and Life is A Dream.

A great starting point for students creating their own work, giving them time to develop their ideas with a Rambert animateur. The workshop starts with a contemporary dance technique warm up followed by exploring choreographic themes, ideas and tasks from new Rambert repertoire.

These workshops focus on current touring Rambert work as a stimulus and are primarily aimed at GCSE and A-level dance students who are required to create solo/group choreography as part of their qualification.

Delivered either at school or in Rambert’s state-of-the-art archive facilities, the archive strand is aimed at A-level dance students required to learn about the history of Rambert. There are 7 hour long sessions to choose from covering Rambert history 1966 – 2002 and all 6 named practitioners. Schools and colleges can choose 2 sessions for a half day or 4 for a full day workshop. Workshops are primarily theory/lecture based with tasks and activities designed to revise the material.

Options are available to combine a dance workshop with a visit to our archive as part of our Experience Days package. Find out more

'The whole ‘Rambert experience' was fantastic. The animateur engaged with the students from the onset. All students were absorbed and are still buzzing from their achievements now. A positive and extremely valuable experience for all involved!'
