The summer ahead - Caroline Hagley
Posted by: Caroline Hagley on 17 June 2009
We are finally back from touring and I am currently surrounded by a sea of unglamorous dirty costumes from the past four weeks. This is currently my priority if only to make wardrobe smell a little more heavenly! I estimate that there are at least 15 loads ahead plus a rails worth to go to the dry cleaners.
That aside we are currently working on two new pieces: Comedy of Change, and Tread Softly. The former is being designed by Georg Meyer-Wiel, who also designed Infinity. One of the main themes is ‘conceal and reveal' and this idea has been incorporated into the costumes by using a simple black and white theme, whereby the dancers can potentially be visible and then hidden using lighting. The front of the unitards are stark white, whilst the back, in contrast, is black; other costume ideas are still being developed.
Tread Softly is also in very early production stages but will be designed by Asalia Khadge, who is based in Holland. I am hoping to meet with Asalia in early July to discuss design concepts.
And finally...... I am looking forward to my summer holiday and a rest!
