290# Ghost Dances on video

Many of you have requested that we produce a DVD copy of Christopher Bruce's Ghost Dances. You may already know that the film we sold on our website was danced by The Houston Ballet and was available on VHS. Earlier this year we looked into buying more stock to sell on our website and we were told that it has been discontinued due to an expired license. Although Ghost Dances was choreographed for Rambert, we were not involved in the production of The Houston Ballet film so we are not in a position to renew the license. I believe there is also a copyright issue with the music so I doubt that a straight forward re-license would occur.
I have just spoken to Christopher Bruce and as promised I passed on all of your comments. He understands your frustrations and is sorry he isn't able to do anything about the situation as it is out of his hands.
My advice would be to contact other companies that have performed Ghost Dances to see if they hold a copy. If we get further information in the future we will post it on our website and on Facebook.

I always check to see if ghost dances is out on dvd. surely with the demands being so high for it to be released again they should do what the public wants?! its such a shame that people cant share this amazing dance with everyone! im amazed that I cant find it anywhere!! please seriously get in touch with Christopher Bruce and tell him how much this means to us.
thanks

Hi Debbie
A video of Ghost Dances was available but as is common as time goes by and demnad is far lower, it is no longer being made. Christopher Bruce left Rambert Dance Company in 2002, but he does still pop by so we will pass on your comments as I'm sure he'll be glad to hear your thoughts on Ghost Dances.

Dear Mr. Bruce,

As a community dance teacher of years, my first inspiration was Ghost Dances. I am asking why it is not available on DVD? Please, please, Mr. Bruce could this wonderful choreography be made available to us all.
There is so little dance on the television these days and I rely on my DVD's to show students. I would love Ghost Dances to be one of my collection.
Thank you,
Debbie

Hi Scarlett
There is a resource pack available to buy at our online shop; it details each section of the work including analysis of the movement and background information.
I hope this will help you.
