258# Eternal light and infinity!

A friend and i travelled from chichester university to watch this performance on thursday and after seeing infinity last year I promised her she would be blown away by the innovative choreo and amazing technique of the dancers, which naturally she was!
We are in our first year of studying dance and found we were watching the pieces from a new critical perspective.
The choreography tied in so well with the lighting, costumes, sound and performance it was so immense! I didn't want the performance to end we were on the edge of our seats throughout! x

The music was fantastic (rushed out & bought the CD) & the dancing also. But - those costumes! Sixties Hippy Trail, the flares were so distracting. And the girl in green baby doll pyjamas dancing with the boy in his underpants. Shame. And what was a Toucan doing in a Requiem? It detracted from the sentiment of the occasion. I heard members of the audience voicing similar objections. I know it can't be easy for choreographers to think up new ideas, but, less really is more.

I saw the performamnce in Bath the saturday before and I was so moved I booked the following saturday at Sadlers Wells. I found it even more stunning and enthralling the second time. I haven't seen music and dance so beautifully combined and they both seemed to flow together. Unlike previous posters I thought the costumes enhanced the experience and the beautiful bird added hope and warmth.
The most wonderful stage performance I have seen in years

That was the most intense and emotional dance production I have ever experienced. Probably the most positive and hopeful Requiem I have ever heard. The individual elements and the combined production held a depth, a love and a warmth that was a joy to be part of.

I agree with Sylvia Herd - fantastic dance and music complementing each other wonderfully. A truely moving experience. However, the costumes, although excellent in their own right, were distracting, particularly the Toucan - a beautifual and realistic costume but out of place with the other more abstract costumes. It broke the magic of the production.
