also saw this on 8th nov.
eternal light was just so moving..Iwas in tears several times. the singing soloists brought an extra personal and subtle quality to the music and I loved the poor beautiful bird.
swansong was delightful funny menacing frightening and beautifully performed with such lightness of touch. we all loved it.
Iwas less keen on infinity though one could not but be impressed, but my 14 year old daughter and her friend were knocked out by it.
please please please put them on dvd....I could watch them for ever.
Also amazing music so thanks especially to howard goodall!

245# Eternal Light

Unfortunately I thought that the dance subtracted from the requiem experience. Is movement even appropriate? A series of static or slowly moving tableaux could have had better effect. Diaghilev's concept involved painting - a static medium absent from this production.
Goodall's approach to the requiem was very innovative in its focus on individual grieving. But the dance element lacked matching it.

I came along to the Sat matinee, as an afterthought if I'm honest. But have seen the Rambert on other occasions.
I came away almost in a trance!
The first two dances were great and in particular Swansong. Those three guys were a treat to watch.
And then the unexpected Eternal Light. Already a Howard Goodall fan I was overjoyed to hear his latest work.
The choir, orchestra and brilliant soloists at times overwhelmed me. I have to slightly agree with Chris Farrell that the dance was almost not needed.
But the section 'Dies Arae, In Flanders fields' when the beautiful , jeweled, crosses assended will be a theatrical experince I will remember for a long time.
Thank you so much to the whole company for a truly magical afternoon

250# ETERNAL LIGHT

My wife and I attended the Friday afternoon performance, the experience of which has completely changed my life. Each ballet was truly momumental - the dancers were incredible, brilliant, unbelievable, entrancing...(I could go on!)
If I could see only ONE of these magnificent dances again it would have to be INFINITY - its clever mix of sound and movement hypnotised me.
At the end I felt like running on to the stage and putting my arms of congratulation around each and every dancer.
Oh Yes - please, please PLEASE put INFINITY on DVD!! I have been so impressed by the Ballet Rambert that I have already bought Christopher Bruce`s TRIPLE BILL DVD as a Christmas present for my wife (actually it`s for me really!!!) Don`t tell her!

I was in the audience on Saturday night - an extraordinary experience. After each interval I was convinced that the next ballet could not match the preceding one - each time I was delightfully surprised. How very striking that the experience of torture, the interplay between the torturers and the tortured should be more real to me via dance than ever before via any other medium! Eternal Light and Infinity equally were inventive, audacious and enthralling. Truly outstanding!

I attended the Saturday matinee and believe it was probably the most stunning performance I have ever seen on stage. My 2 daughters (under 10) were literally on the edge of their seats and won't stop talking about what they've seen - its a rare treat to have found something which truly reaches out in this way. Fantastic and inspirational - very well done!
