262# Eternal Light
By Val Munro on Mon, 17 November 2008 at 06:19:05 AM
I just had to say that you gave edinburgh one of its most memorable evenings recently. I am a dance enthusiast and a classically trained singer and i can honestly say it is the best thing i think i have ever seen and heard. I came back a second night and would see it again if it were to be anywhere else in Scotland.
Thank you for the excitement of watching wonderful bodies in glorious action and for the particular beauty of Eternal Light I hope there might be a video in the future for although i am loving listening to the music and can picture the dancers in my movement memory it would be a real bonus to have the real thing.

I have never been to dance before but am a singer in a choir so having heard the SYCOS in St Mary's decided to try dance!! I was mesmerised by the beauty of the dancing and the lightness and movement; the music spoke volumes and play the cd a lot. I also loved the rest of the programme and you have a convert!

went to the performance of Eternal Light in Edinburgh with a friend and we were both absolutely blown away by the beauty of the performance: dancing, music and production. We felt really moved by the total experience. Rambert continues to operate at the highest level.Would love to watch this again and again

Had a good night out with a lot going on - in fact at times I just couldn't enjoy the full flow of it all, as there simply were too many performances going on at the same time.
That said - I wouldn't have been without it and it was wonderful to have had a new kind of dance experience - choir and all.
Perticularly funny was how some performances suited our evenings discussion: going to Dublin in December - et voila - green and white dresses.....even the Guiness Tukan!
ps CDs at theatres are often a bit pricey - is that necessary?

A magnificent performance with the combination of excellent choral singing and dance that flowed so easily and created a beautiful picture.

A superb evening with a superb programme capped by Eternal Light which was the best work I have seen for many years.
Superb choreography, orchestra and choir and naturally amazing dance from a team that are as good as it gets.
This was the first time I have seen a sign language interpreter at such a performance and I fully appreciate the need to ensure that your work is enjoyed by all.
I do however have to say that the interpreter was obtrusive from the stalls as was visible peripherally throughout the performance and tended to distract.
Finally thanks for a superb evening

What a wonderful combination of heart-moving music, superb singing by the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland - what great diction - and beautiful dancing. I hope Eternal Light will be seen in other parts of the country and become a standard repertoire work.

All of the dancers in the Rambert Dance Company are amazing. However, Jonathan's solo in Eternal Light was one of the most breath taking performances I have ever seen! The control he has over his entire body is just mesmerizing, and a great inspiration.
Sorry, no more posts can be added.
