By Susan Sunter on Tue, 18 November 2008 at 11:53:00 AM
I have been a fan of Rambert dance for 35 years and would like to say that the dancing and the costumes and the music have never failed to enthrall.October's performance was wonderful! The physical quality of the dancing was better than ever!
My school took a group of students and they loved the performance, for most of the students it was the first time they had seen any dance. Many are keen to see more!
I was sad to see so many empty seats but please keep coming to Norwich, you have many loyal supporters there.

Had a fantastic evening on Sat 18th October and feel that Rambert are back on stunning form. Loved Eternal Light, the wonderful music, exhilarating dance and gorgeous costumes. Yes,the toucan was a bit silly but you can't have everything! Swansong was really the main event of the evening for me, as I'd been waiting 13 years to see it again! It very, very nearly lived up to my memories of 1995's version with Christopher Powney, Simon Cooper and Ted Stoffer! Swansong is my all-time favourite piece of dance; I love everything about it. I liked Infinity too, although by then I was a bit overwhelmed and would have liked to be able to rewind it and see it again!
Please, please keep coming to Norwich in spite of the half-empty theatre. We love to see your new work and never tire of revisiting Ghost Dances et al.

I have been to nearly all of Rambert's productions over the years - but Eternal Light and Infinity have just blown me away. I cried and at the same time nearly floated away with joy! Thought provoking, deeply emotional pieces with the most athletic, divinely passionate dancing. Really - a triumph. I booked tickets for Sadlers Wells performance immediately! Thank you.

Eternal Light took my breath away and I was moved to tears - so reassuring to know that we do not have to go to London, Covent Garden etc for great ballet.

I always make a point of seeing the Rambert when you come to Norwich - one of my first visits to the ballet (as an impressionable boy) was to see GHOST DANCES at the Theatre Royal!
In the current programme: The music and the dance of ETERNAL LIGHT each fought for attention instead of working together - I'd rather the choreography had been to something a bit more solemn, say Bach's St John or St Matthew Passion. Howard Goodall's music is nice neough, but better heard on its own. The crystal crucifixes were OTT, and the Toucan did nothing but remind me of Guinness - the poor bird was much too panto, and didn't live up to the promise of its image on the poster. Apart from that, the costumes and the choreography were fantastic. You have such a good-looking lot of talented young dancers at the moment - they are a joy, and always more than welcome in Norwich.
I didn't really understand INFINITY, but that is not to say that I didn't enjoy it - it struck me as a brave and clever piece. The old 'warhorse' SWANSONG is one of my favourites: I know what's coming every time but still burst into tears. The three boys who danced it at Norwich (Friday Matinee) were particularly good, and it was the most memorable piece of the programme.
Thank you all again - PLEASE keep coming back; we need companies like the Rambert in Norwich.

I thought Eternal Light was a complete piece of theatre,an almost religious experience, with wonderful music, I loved the singing, and everything coming together. I had seen Swansong before, many years ago, it is so powerful and that is the piece which will stay with us longest. We were too far away to see expressions so it was the movement alone which conveyed such emotional intensity, such fear and menace. After those two, we felt Infinity was an anticlimax; perhaps it would have worked better first on the programme, with Eternal Light as the finale.

I am still reeling from the extaordinary but beautiful ballet I had the pleasure to see last week at the theatre royal norwich. I decided to go on my own as a last minute pick-me up and was so pleased to come away still smiling! This was one of the best 'modern'interprtation of ballet I have seen.I'm not sure how I drove the 25 miles back home without rising into the air with wings. Thank you SO much. I look forward to many more of your tours. PLEASE KEEP DANCING

Thank you for a truly brilliant and uplifting performance. I thought Infinity was amazing; Swan Song very moving and beautifully executed. Eternal Light was very emotive, the music and excellent singers a bonus. I have since bought the CD.
The high standard of the whole performance just filled me with admiration. Thank you.

I have been coming to see Rambert perform in Norwich for several years now and thought this programme was one of the best, most balanced, I've seen from you. The athleticism and artistry of the dancers was superb. I would happily have watched this programme again the next night. Look forward to your next visit and the continuance of your high standard.

How cleaver of Linda to go twice.
At the interval after Eternal Light my wife and I thought we would like to see it again quite soon. It was Sat.evening so no chance.
I am no dance expert but some of the movements in Infinity seemed very complex and as ever the lovely Rambert dancers carried them out with such poise and fluidity. I tought the whole evening was spectaculer.
I am a fan of Philip Chambon and would to see 'Stream' again, will it be repeated?
Paul.
