95# Swansea Performance

Swansea performance..........
L\'eveil - Stunning, beautifuly lit, danced and accompanied by Melanie Marshall. World class as would be expected from Rambert

Scribblings - Irritating and nausious. It made me feel ill and If there hadn\'t been anything else on the bill I would have driven home. I thought this style of musical composition was buried in concrete a long time ago and dropped down a very deep mine shaft. D**n New Yorkers.

Swansong - I saw this first over 20 years ago, this time I had to choke back the tears. An awesome performance that was truly harrowing and beautiful at the same time. Its amazing how the work and theme is as relevant today as it was then. The boys did Bruce proud.

Anatomica #3 - Jeez whats going on there then. How can work like this share the same bill as L\'eveil and Swansong. It started well and the last 2 bars were strong enough in that cliched \'get everyone to do the phrase in unison\' number but what was the rest all about? A load of improvised workshops bolted together with a smattering of directed choreography to glue it together?

Overview - Rambert have arguably the finest contemporary dancers in the world. Can\'t we get to see them for what they are capable of, rather than these physically dumbed down experiments. And when are you going to restage Ghost Dances and some Michael Clark?

We were thrilled by the performances at Swansea Grand on 6.3.08. It was very special for us as we have not seen much modern ballet before and nothing compared to Rambert.
Shannon has only seen traditional ballet before and thought the performance was brilliant. She is eleven

We were both amazed by the energy, discipline ang enthusiasm of the company. The vast array of dance styles and movements kept us spellbound throughout the performance. Jilly has seen the company a number of times, Swansea was my first ever foray into this form of dance.I went into the theatre with an open mind and came away utterly amazed. Thank you JIlly and all at Rambert for broadening my horizons.
