652# saturday matinee

By chris stone on Mon, 7 June 2010 at 03:43:00 PM

I booked tickets online a couple of weeks ago for The Ballet Rambert's matinee performance last Saturday. As my daughter is a student of ballet we were particularly keen to see the Merce Cunningham piece. When I read that the matinee performance was shorter than the regular one I looked on the site for a description of how it would be shortened, anxious that we should not miss the one piece that we had come for. Since there was no explanation I was left to assume the three pieces would simply be shortened. So we arrived, watched the first piece and then during the interval as i was looking through the programme a piece of paper fell out. Imagine our surprise when we saw that no mention of the Merce Cunningham piece ! Although we enjoyed the other two ballets, we are very disappointed at being so misled. If at least it had been mentioned when booking (if it was then it was not clear) we could have made an informed choice.

I\'ve only seen the short programme; The Touch of Art & A Linha Curva. A Linha Curva: Stunning. I like contemporary dance when it reaches the extremes. All the best.

650# Guess you can't please everyone

To be perfectly honest it was the first time in my life that I left a show before the end (didn't see A Linha Curva). I did not like it at all, and was surprised how unprofessional it was, especially given my previous amazing experiences at Sadler\'s Wells. Hope it was an exception and not a rule.

Our son Ashley Orwin was performing in A Linha Curva from Rambert Ballet School and we went to see his final show of the tour at Sadlers Wells.

Thought the whole show was absolutely amazing especially A Linha Curva

646# last night

By John Harvey on Fri, 28 May 2010 at 12:19:11 PM

I used to dance ballet and absolutely loved. then my parents divorced when i was 13 and i stopped dancing. Watching how beautiful the company danced last night really made me want to dance again.

It really is amazing what we can do with our bodies!
