Young Filmmakers Project: Rambert at Theatre Royal, Brighton, 2017

In the 90 Years on the Move project, a team of young people from Lambeth and Southwark, aged 16-25, made a short film about Rambert’s tour to the Theatre Royal, Brighton in 2017. Here, the company performed ‘Flight’ (2016), ‘Tomorrow’ (2016), and ‘Ghost Dances’ (1981).

Giving a glimpse into life on tour, past and present, this film also explores Rambert’s long-running partnership with the theatre, the work of the company’s costume department, and the process of readjusting dance works for different stages. It includes footage of dancers in class, interviews with key members of staff, and material from the Rambert Archive.

The team was trained in film-making skills by our project partner Iconic Steps, a social enterprise video training company.

90 Years on the Move was part of Rambert at 90, a project marking Rambert’s 90th anniversary, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
