600# role of a dance

By Deanne on Thu, 11 February 2010 at 08:02:25 PM

I was just wondering if you could help me with an assignment for university. I have to find out what the roles of being a dancer/performer are, for example musicality, stamina, research into choreographers style and knowing about the intentions of the peice etc. I need proof of evidence for this. can you help please?

Hi Aleksandr
Thanks for your interest and compliments.

We have recently held auditions for one female and one male dancer, so are not looking for more dancers at the moment but you could send us, by post, your CV (resume) and a current photograph, (please note we require video footage of yourself performing, if you live outside Europe).

Please send applications to Mikaela Polley, Rambert's Rehearsal Director/Dancers' Management Team at our address on the Home Page of the website. Or see this page: http://www.rambert.org.uk/about_rambert/auditions

184# Artistic Director responsibilities

By Gillian - Web Manager on Fri, 17 October 2008 at 08:30:21 AM

Hi Kirsty, Here's a rough guide of what the responsibilities of an Artistic Director of a dance company are: managing the artistic side of the company such as choosing the repertoire (which dance pieces are to be created, re-used, rehearsed and performed), commissioning any choreographers, composers etc. and also choreographing for the Company, and being responsible for the dancers and employment of new dancers.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes.

Thanks for getting back to me. That's awesome! I might not audition this year but in the near future. I just got a job in Washington DC.

My best,
