416# Rambert

Without the music and vocal work, 'Requiem' would have been 'Tedium' at the Saturday matinee.
It was messy, lacking in fluidity, no shape, no form, no momentum. Far too much 'movement' and not enough dance.
The last piece was a real YAWN... repetitive, again all (predictable)movement and no dancing, no ooomph or visual excitement!
Somebody please get a grip.
413# Eternal Light Tour 2009 Thurs 4th June in Leeds

Eternal Light was a great experience, I went with school as i have taken dance as a GCSE.
Rambert came to school and taught us part of a dance sequence and spent the day observing our dance techniques.
I really enjoyed Eternal Light, as did everyone from my school.
The choreography, dancers, sets & lights were all amazing can only say how we all thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
412# Eternal Light & Infinity

Couldn't disagree more. Sat through both of these pieces in awe of the dancers, the music (stunning in both cases), the committment & passion for the art which was evident on all fronts (choreography, dancers, sets & lights). I took my husband, who usually prefers footbal - he LOVED 'Infinity.' I can't offer a technical critique - can only say it was beautiful, thoughtful, & WOW.
411# Eternal Light requiem

When i heard of this new production i was most excited to see a different side to Rambert. Having seen some of this companys earlier works i was expecting to see something of a much higher calibre, and i say that in the sense that nothing particularly drew me to any point of the dance. The choreography in the Requiem was messy and less than fluent and the whole point of the dance went unfelt and the use of props and costume added to the cheese of the performance. and to the fact that i was almost blinded on a number of occassions by the tacky floating crosses. However I must praise Tamsin Coombs and Andy Rupp for there passionate solo was delightfull however to state that company goes unrivaled was sorely not lived up to on this performance, i have been a fan of ballet and contempory/ modern dance for many years and have studied dutifully myself for a number of those years. I dont think i will be recomending this performance to any of my peirs.A most dissapointing review from a most dissapointed viewer usually most satisfied by these delightfull dancers.

We had a wonderful evening at The Grand Theatre, Eternal Light was so moving, a truly spiritual experience. The blend of music, voices and movement was magical. I am about to go to France for a memorial ceremony for my Uncle and the crew of his plane which was shot down at Gannes. I have a poppy wreath to take with me, Flanders field was so movineg and I shed a few tears. I have bought the CD, congratulations to everyone involved in the Leeds production.
Sorry, no more posts can be added.
